Nics & Cuts & Friends: Hair and Identity Series Part 3 (@thebarbermicki_)

June 4, 2025

This past month I sat down with three local Seattle stylists to discuss how hair and identity go hand-in-hand.

In this segment, I spoke with Micki Yeates of @thebarbermicki_ and Hatch Hair & Company in the Columbia City neighborhood of Seattle.

Micki and I go back quite a few years but it was nice to get a chance to sit down with them and nerd out about hair! In this segment we talk about the potential future of the industry, technical aspects that help define some of the more modern cuts we're seeing in and out of the queer community, the less talked about sides of starting a business and the power of versatility in utilizing aspects of both barbering and cosmetology. Despite a few technical issues in this video, it's chalk full of information and insight!
